I am starting a movement called Watch Local Films a.k.a. WLF (hahaha...sekali baca macam MILF plak)
kenapa?
Sebab, kalau kita tak support local film industry sapa lagi?
Sebab, kalau industry ni jadi besar dan established, ramai orang boleh cari makan.
Artis, filmmakers, tukang cat, tukang kayu, electrician, drivers, production houses, designers, wah the list is endless.
So let us raid the cineplexes near to us and watch local films. Betul some of them are crap. Tapi before quality, the quantity must be there fisrt. Bila dah banyak dan berkembang baru la boleh memilih. So by giving support to the local fillmakers and the local film industry, baru la industry boleh flourish.
It is as simple as going to the movies, and refrain yourself from buying pirated DVD of local films.
So support WLF by doing these:
1. Go to cinemas to watch local films, in the first week of its screening. kalau tak habis ja, tempoh wajib tayang tu, these cineplex operators will stop screening the local films and replace it with foreign films. So bila kita pergi beramai-ramai, at least local films will get good collections in the short screening period. Lagi best kalau, kita tak sempat tengok during wajib tayang sebab ticket sold out, kita buat demo kat cineplexes suruh depa lanjut tempoh tayangan. tapi demo2 ni biarlah merupakan last resort. Paling penting, dalam masa two weeks tu kita penuhkan panggung yang tunjuk cerita local.
2. Sesiapa yang ada blog, facebook, or any other similar medium, tolong la promote local films through your blog. Sesapa yang takde blog dan buta IT, positive word of mouth dah cukup bagus. Sebarkan atau uar-uarkan pasal local films sebab kalau nak harap promo kat mass media, our local filmmakers tak ada big enough budget untuk buat effective promotional strategy.
3. Finally, refrain ourselves from buying pirated DVd of local films. nak beli cerita hollywood takpe, sebab, depa punya market worldwide, your RM although still valuable to them, not as valuable to our own filmmakers.
Remember these 3 simple steps, and help our own industry. If the industry grows Malaysia will grow as well.
